How long will it take to mediate my case?
Each situation is unique and the length of time it will take to resolve the conflict in your case will vary depending upon the number and complexity of the issues. It is important to keep in mind that under California law, there is a mandatory six (6) month waiting period between the date a divorce is filed (and served) and the date the couple can be officially divorced. This is true regardless of whether you choose litigation or mediation. On average, a mediated divorce is less time consuming when compared to going through the court system. However, this is entirely dependant on the couples.
